I'm a mess in a dress, can't show up on time, even if it would save my life.
crystalsnows delicate brown and black paws darted themselve into the water, in and out gently. her soft paws had once been so beautiful to her but now were just scars from the past, indicators that she was the ugliest creature to ever walk this earth. she shook her head angrily, wishing she could lash out at them and destory them. wishing that they weren't really a part of her. she glowered at her paws, which in her eyes were large and ugly, but in reality they were small and delicate. in her venomous anger, she saw her reflection.
immeadiatley she switched her attention to the ugly thing staring back at her. she darted a paw out at it, causing ripples to distort her face even more than her head did. her ugly green eyes stared back at her through angry slits. a fat chubby face was bared in a snarl and letting out loud angry hisses. large ears, like those of a chihuahua, were laid back in her anger. crystalsnow did not understand that the cat she saw was not ugly. that the cat she saw, herself, was trully graceful and beautiful. slim and beaming, even when she glowered.
how come she couldn't see that?

his large white-tipped paws thudded as he walked through a greening meadow, his teal eyes darting from each little creature to the next. his thin black lips were held slightly ajar, catching the breeze between them and bringing fresh scents of prey to the attention of the riverclan deputy. maskedheart smiled inwardly as a butterfly flew overhead, his coat thoroughly warmed by the bright sunshine. newleaf was in full effect now, he noted as he passed through a patch of stunning yellow coltsfoot. perhaps he would bring some of the leaves back for thornfang after his hunt, if he didn't have too much to carry. maskedheart found his steps bringing him closer and closer to the river, and as he heard the gentle running of water approaching, he took a whiff of the air. cat? he took another deep breath, trying to sort out the scent from the rest of the vibrant traces of animals and plants. it was definitely riverclan, and so he let his fur lie flat as he padded closer. he passed through a final ring of bushes and came to the rivers edge, spotting the cat in question across the way. she seemed intensely focused on something in the water, and he temptingly disturbed her concentration. "good afternoon, crystalsnow." maskedheart meowed kindly, bowing his head in greeting.

maskedhearts arrival nearly had the cat, so focused upon her reflection, whirling around. her paw was raised to strike and the fire never left her eyes. then of course she recognized the familiar face of her deputy. her eyes softened, if only slightly, and her paw fell to the floor. her calico coat prickled in shame. she offered him a smile, a small little smile. hello maskedheart. i apologize. you scared me her voice was apologetic and almost shy. in an attempt to hide her shame, she sat down and began grooming her chest fur. how are you doing today maskedheart? again, a shy quiet voice. this was her deputy after all and it would be rude not to greet him.

maskedheart's docile eyes widened a little as the she-cat jumped, his fur ruffling as he chuckled. he smirked a little at crystalsnow, watching as the tabby squirmed. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to sneak up on you like that." the large tom said gently, eyeing her brown and orange form over. she appeared to be genuinely shaken, and so he offered a smile back in her direction. "i'm fine, just hunting. maybe collecting some herbs for thornfang, i passed through a meadow with some coltsfoot a few minutes ago." he brought his paw to his lips, his tongue rasping over his toes as he unsheathed his claws and glanced absently into the river. it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye out for fish while they were talking, anyways. wrapping his tail around his other three paws, he leaned over the edge of the water. "how about you? catch anything?" he asked as he dipped his paw into the flow of the river, the cool liquid seeping straight to his skin through his fur.

I'm a mess in a dress, can't show up on time, even if it would save my life.
"i'm sorry, i didn't mean to sneak up on you like that."
of course, maskedheart had her smiling within a few moments. he was a great deputy, he took care of his clan the way he should and he didn't hesitate to lend a helping paw when needed. crystalsnow lowered her head, feeling her cheeks flush. it's okay maskedheart, i probably should have been more in tune to what was going on around me. why in starclan's name did she feel like an apprentice again. so immature and worthless, so ashamed. she felt like an apprentice that had been caught eating before feeding the clan. it was so stupid.
"i'm fine, just hunting. maybe collecting some herbs for thornfang, i passed through a meadow with some coltsfoot a few minutes ago." - "how about you? catch anything?"
again, proving his worth. crystalsnow never would haver volunteered to help her medicine cat. that would have been forced upon her. and then he asked her if she had caught anything. her head sank even lower than before. she looked up again, opened her maw to say something( perhaps a no ), but closed it again. she shook herself inwardly and finally looked maskedheart in the eyes. no. i wasn't looking for fish. i was looking at myself. im sorry maskedheart. again, that shamed apprentice feeling ran through her chest.
O O C perhaps a possible crush

maskedheart looked away from the river and up into the olive eyes of his clanmate. he narrowed his own sapphire hues as he studied hers, and it was apparent from her shuffling paws and slightly shuddering body that she was uncomfortable. crystalsnow appeared almost leaf-like, ready to be toppled over at the slightest breeze. "hey, don't be sorry. you are allowed to just go out for walks sometimes. it's newleaf, we've got prey coming out of our ears." he said, his voice chiming with humor as he stood to nudge the she-cats head with his own comfortingly. "besides, it's barely sunhigh." maskedheart purred as he returned to his perch on the riverside. his ears flicked, his tail swishing patiently back and forth as he watched the water below him. the reaction to the shine of bright silver scales was immediate, and his strike was, although clumsy, accurate. he shoved his forearm into the chilly water, going at the fish in the same direction it was swimming, as he had been taught to do as an apprentice. as the fish weaved through the current, maskedheart's claws hooked into it's skin, sinking into it's flesh. he yanked the adolescent trout from it's home in the water, and as he slung it into the sunshine, a prideful smile crossed his lips for a moment. "don't be so hard on yourself, crystalsnow. that's dinner for two, and it only took ten minutes." maskedheart bit into the fish below it's head, severing it's consciousness. it immediately stopped flopping, and laid limp in the grass. "would you like to help me collect that coltsfoot, since i have this to get back to camp now?"
ooc. that'd be fine :3 although he may not notice for a while since he's so involved with his clan duties

"hey, don't be sorry. you are allowed to just go out for walks sometimes. it's newleaf, we've got prey coming out of our ears." - "besides, it's barely sunhigh."
what was this sudden shuddering that went through her figure when his head touched hers? it was a queer sensation. she leaned into the touch, willing it to last longer than the second it actually did. then of course, she became aware of his comforting words and the laughter in his eyes. she let her lips curve into a smile. of course maskedheart. her voice became teasing course, getting mad is always the second best option. assuming you cant think of another thing to do despite the humor in her voice, she clung onto hope that she could see what he looked like with the fire in his handsome blue eyes or when his fur bristled and gleamed with health. then she felt her cheeks flush again, and she was glad that he couldn't see the color in her cheeks.
"don't be so hard on yourself, crystalsnow. that's dinner for two, and it only took ten minutes." - "would you like to help me collect that coltsfoot, since i have this to get back to camp now?"
she watched his teeth dig into the fish, having been so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't seen him hunt. her green eyes lit up in laughter at his dinner for two comment. though the hope lingered there to. she dipped her head down and took a bite of the fish. its flavor lit up in her maw and she smiled again. thank you maskedheart. that's a very kind thing to do again with the hope and childish emotions. she shook her head at the thoughts, letting a silent growl escape her maw. of course i would. on one condition, you help me finish this fish. humor danced in her eyes, knowing that he would probably say yes. again, she at least hoped he would say yes.
O O C meep. i luff her

"mad? you mean like..." maskedheart smirked, opening his lips wide and letting out a gruesome hiss. he pushed his cinnamon ears back, adding to his flawless face of anger, as he swished his fluffy tail from side to side. suddenly, he pounced forward, leaning down and tearing into the fish with a viciousness only a true warrior could harness. he ripped flesh from it's bones, spitting out scales as he devoured the bite in a rather untidy fashion. he began to chuckle as he swallowed his mouthful, laughing at himself as he hacked up a scale that had lodged in his throat. "that's what i get for trying to be scary." maskedheart said as he coughed a final time, shaking his head to clear any other debris from his windpipe. as he settled down beside his prey, he sprawled out on the warm dirt, embracing the filth that was now coating his white belly. this was maskedheart's guilty pleasure - he truly loved the earth, and rolling around in dirt was one of his favorite past times. he had kept his love of cool ground since kithood, and at a still-young 28 moons, maskedheart was more than happy to oblige in a mudbath. he didn't make a move to writhe in the dirt, though, despite the tempting thought. he glanced up as he heard crystalsnow's voice again, no longer meek, but almost taunting. "you're very welcome for the fish. i'd be rude not to help you eat it!" maskedheart winked, pawing away the scales from a section of the fish so the she-cat wouldn't choke as he had. he took a smaller nibble - he figured this was fair, since his previous bite was monstrous - and pulled his head away from the prey, nudging it toward crystalsnow.
